The Cave Room was Tinnie’s first solo exhibition, held at Garden City Bookstore from December 22, 2018, to January 6, 2019. The name comes from her childhood when she would write, draw and daydream under her mother’s vanity. It was a space to be alone, and it represents a focused and happy state of mind whenever she is creating.
Tinnie illustrated her small sorrows in pencil; her handwriting revealed how she perceives and understands the world. Using recycled paper and cotton-blend linen as her medium, Tinnie created a soft and intimate space, as if she were creating a quiet dialogue with her audience in a clean room.
“I’ve always thought of myself as a stubborn artist, but when I’m self-healing through making art, I can also comfort people who live life fully each day. Maybe my little room is a place where you feel calm.”
In the summer of 2019, Tinnie presented The Cave Room in South Korea at the Seoul Illustration Fair. After exchanging many thoughts with her audience, she began to understand her creative process, and decided to extend the same concept of inner storytelling. Tinnie is preparing for officially founding her brand “Caveroom” in 2022.
